Kungsangen Golf Club

In 1994, European Golf Design were retained to undertake a review of the King's Course at Kungsangen, on the outskirts of Stockholm. The brief was to look into ways in which the course could be improved for the members and corporate golfers, as well as reviewing the potential to upgrade the course such that it could host future European Tour events. During the course of the year, plans were developed that demonstrated, ultimately, the course would need a major period of redesign and construction to meet the latter part of the design brief. In 1995 the decision was made to close the course, in two phases of nine holes, and to begin this construction work.

Over the next two years, there was an almost continuous period of construction. In total, all eighteen greens were re-constructed, new Tournament tees were added on most holes, the width of some holes through woodland was increased and bunkering was added throughout the course. In addition, new drainage and irrigation systems were installed.
