Contributing to profitable golf developments, through socially and environmentally responsible golf course design

Sustainability

With increasing demands for environmental responsibility from governments, local communities and consumers, today's developments need to achieve ever higher standards of social, economic and environmental stewardship. Sustainability is the relationship between these elements and offers some of the greatest challenges to any future development.

All new golf developments are capable of sustaining a healthy ecology while providing economic benefits for both developers and local communities. As golf course designers sustainability defines the way in which we design from the very earliest stages. We work hard to ensure that, wherever possible, our courses show a net-positive environmental impact while still maximising returns for the investor.

The six main sustainability themes which golf developments need to address are:

  • Water
  • Energy & Resources
  • Environmental Quality
  • Landscape & Ecosystems
  • People & Communities
  • Products & Supply Chains

To help each of our projects meet the appropriate sustainability criteria we work closely with the Golf Environment Organisation (GEO) and their development team. GEO is the leading resource for sustainable golf and offers guidance and tools for management and development as well as the most comprehensive environmental certification programmes.
