The Brief

As lead consultants to the Evian Royal Resort, EGD undertook the redesign and renovation of the existing course in preparation for the 5th Major on the LPGA tour, The Evian Championship, in 2013.

The Course

The majority of the current routing has remained in place with all greens, tees, bunkers and water features remodelled and upgraded. Holes 5, 15, 16, 17 & 18 have been redesigned to introduce more drama and spectator viewing areas. The redesign work included improving the quality and strategic challenges of the golf course not just for The Evian Championship but also for the golf club members & the Evian Royal Resort guests.

Status

• The first phase involved the rebuilding of 14 tee complexes and took place between November 2011 and March 2012.
• The second phase, which involved the re-construction of all green complexes, bunkers, water features and remaining tee complexes, commenced in September 2012 and was completed in April 2013, ready for the 2013 Evian Championship which took place in mid September.
• In late 2016, additional improvements have been made to greens 2, 12 & 15, & the fairway landing area on hole 4 has been widened.
