The Brief

To design a brand new Colin Montgomerie signature course on the site of an existing golf course at The Royal Golf Club, as part of a major new residential development in the Kingdom of Bahrain called Riffa Views.

Riffa Views comprises 1000 residential villas on three estates. Other facilities include the Riffa Views International School, Boris Becker Tennis Academy, Country Club and Spa, fine dining restaurants and a variety of cultural and leisure facilities.

The Course

The facilities include both a championship standard 18-hole Colin Montgomerie Course and the exquisite ‘Wee Monty’ 9 hole course. Both have been designed and constructed to provide a links style golf experience in the desert, with fast running fairways and open approaches into huge, firm greens which are dramatically contoured.

The back nine of the Montgomerie and the entire ‘Wee Monty’ course are floodlit, offering golfers one of the most memorable of golfing experiences.

Status

Opened at the end of 2008, The Royal Golf Club hosted the inaugural Volvo Golf Champions in 2011, won by Paul Casey.
